Lengthen, Release, and Lock It In
After 27 years and more than 25,000 sessions, I've developed a specific approach to deep tissue and myofascial work that goes beyond generic pressure and technique. I call it Lengthen, Release, and Lock It In.
Lengthen. Tight muscles are shortened muscles. Before any real release can happen, I work to actively lengthen the muscle fiber itself — not just push into it, but create space within it.
Release. Once a muscle is lengthened, I separate it from the surrounding muscles it's been compensating with. Chronically tight muscles rarely work alone — they pull neighboring muscles into the problem. Releasing means freeing each muscle to move independently again, not just relaxing the area as a whole.
Lock It In. The goal isn't just relief on the table — it's relief that lasts after you stand up. I finish each session reinforcing the new range of motion, so your body remembers the change instead of drifting back into the same pattern within a day or two.
This is deep, targeted work — never pain for the sake of pain. Any discomfort during a session should feel therapeutic and resolving, not punishing. Clients leave looser, not sore.
Whether you're an athlete managing chronic tightness, recovering from an old injury, or simply someone who carries tension from daily life, this approach is tailored to what your body actually needs that day.
